The inspiration for "Putting on the Ritz" is the focal cabochon. It's a Montana Agate Doublet...which I took to mean it looked like a jacket. I had to have that stone. I learn something new everyday. In this case, doublet actually means the lapidarist layered the agate with turquoise. The color is beautiful!. The smaller stone in the bow is a Cat's Eye Moonstone.
Whenever possible, I endeavor to design my pieces with options. This piece provided me with the opportunity. The first photo shows the entire piece with the "tux" facing out. Both stones are bezel set in fine silver and sit on sterling silver backs. The bow and all the other elments, are hand-forged from sterling silver. I fabricated a tension clasp to allow the "tux" to be work in reverse as seen in the second photo. The back has and intricate piercing...in a random "stain glass" pattern...revealing the turquoise part of the doublet. Last, but not least, the focal stone can be removed and the bow worn separately for a simple but elegant statement.
This one-of-a-kind, original design piece includes an 18-inch sterling silver chain as shown.
