I imagined this piece celebrating the beauty of the desert following a chance rain.  The cabochon is a composite that incorporates Arizona desert wood.  I have tub set red cubic zirconia in the center of the desert "flowers."  A hummingbird approaches to enjoy the sudden feast of nectar.
 
The focal piece is bezel set in fine silver and rests on a sterling silver backplate that is surrounded by a flattering sterling silver twisted wire frame.  The hummingbird is also sterling silver and sits atop the backplate as well.  The back of the pendant has a sterling silver bail.  I love to have my piece serve a dual purpose and this pendant is also a brooch.  The pin back includes a sterling silver rose that I fabricated to hold the stainless steel pin.  The piece measures 2 3/4" long and 1 1/4" wide.  It is an original, one-of-a-kind piece.
